Hi All,

One of my customers is having a problem with users dialing Feature 9*2 and changing the SMDR settings.

I know there was a post about this recently, but I can't for the life of me find it (maybe it was pulled for some reason??).

Anyway, in that post, Arr said that I can put in a set restriction to stop them from dialing 9*2 (makes sense!).

However, when I tried, I could not get it to work....it seems that when you hit the feature button, anything dialed after that is not subject to the set restrictions. And I can't find a way to put "feature" in the restriction.

You can put the 9*2 in the restriction, and it will stop you from dialing 9*2 once you have an outside line - but if you hit "feature" then it doesn't stop you from dialing the 9*2.

Anyone know of a way to prevent users from dialing "feature 9*2" ???

Thanks a lot.

PS - Sorry if this is a repeat post....tried to post and got a page that said ">". Does that mean it posted??? I'm thinking "no".

As I recall you can only restrict the "Feature" by putting
Set Lock on all the phones and give full access to the ones that are not to be restricted.

Bgun,

That was a great thought.....

However, I just tried it, and even a FULL set lock (you can do partial or full) still allows you to do a "feature 9*2".

Hmmm.

Thanks anyway.

Elise

Since you can put a phone on the SMDR unit. What if you put a phone on & put it in DND or forward it to the Reception extension? I don't have one to test. Maybe that might prevent it?

Arr,

Can you jump into this thread here? I was of the impression you knew how to do this. Your wisdom is always appreciated!

Whats the trick? How do you restrict someone or some set or many sets from dialing Feature 9*2 and screwing with an SMDR's settings?

If you want to disable the feature button completely, open up the phone and put black electrical tape over the contact for the feature button.
That's the only way.
Or if you pull off the feature button and cover the hole with tape, that would work too i guess.
