I moved some digital phones over to IP phones and sent the IP phones to another location.

Customer took one of the digital phones and plugged it back into a working jack.

Set relocation was on and as a result the digital phone acquired it's original extension and changed the extension of the IP phone.

I have set relocation off now.

I am thinking that perhaps I should take that bunch of digital phones and plug them to 're-assign' them extensions with set relocation off.

This customer will rely on set relocation for weekly moves.

I am not following what you have done as far as what you did and what location you mean.
Do you mean you plugged in digital sets , removed IP sets then changed the
DN's of the digital sets to what the IP sets were? that is how it should be done.

They are 2 different formats, if you unplug an IP set then plug in a digital set it will not take on the DN of an IP set.

IP sets also need to be deregistered.

Look under Telephony Resources and you'll see that IP Sets are configured for a range of extension numbers, and digital sets are configured for a different range of extensions. So you can't renumber a digital extension with an IP set's DN or vice versa without reconfiguring the numbering.

I tested set relocation on my own BCM 50 with a digital phone and IP phone. You are correct the digital phone did not grab the IP phone extension. De-registering is key. It was just a theory and I was wrong. So I not am certain what happened.

Thanks for the feedback.
