Set only dials 1 extension

I have a MICS 5.o and the situation that is occuring on 1 set is that it will dial only 1 extension no matter which button is pressed. You cannot release it or push any other button. I have tried unplugging/plugging the set in to na avail. Text states that I may have to restart system. Is this a good idea or are there any other options. The extension was previously working with no problems that I am aware of.
Any suggestions?

If that extension is programmed on a specific button on the phone, you have a stuck button. Unplug the phone, then make a fist then take the bottom of your fist and rub the buttons.

I was gonna say to check programming to make sure it doesn't have a hot line partner assigned but that does sound more like sticky button.

Happens all the time dont forget to rub the dialpad keys especially
if it an extension like 222 or 333.

Is there any way to take these things apart and clean them?

No need to take it apart, just unplug the phone, then take some 409 cleaner & spray some on the phone, & with an old tooth brush work it around the buttons. If it is an M series phone the buttons are easily removed and cleaning is much easier. allow phone to dry and plug back in and do a feature *0 (button Inquiry) and press all buttons one at a time to verify no sticky residue left.
