hallo,

Do they exist sets of shapes that can be imported in visio. I am modelling a ER Diagram for a database but the symbols I'm used to (Silberschatz conventions) are not available in Visio. Does someone can give me a suggestion?

Do you have a reference to what these shapes look like? It is relatively easy to create Visio shapes and it is possible that the shapes you are looking for do exist, but under another name.
