I think I inadvertantly set the resolution too high in KDE, and now it won't start. The thing is, KDE is set to start automatically, so when after the system boots, I see the Linux Login at the command line briefly, but then it tries to load KDE and just blacks out; no error messages or anything. Just a black screen. How can I fix this????

when the screen "blacks out", hit ctrl-alt-backspace to force quit X window. at the prompt, you can either run XF86Setup to change the resolution or manually edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config file.

if you're running RedHat or SuSE, they have alternative setup programs (Xconfigurator and SaX or SaX2, respectively). you may want to try those instead of XF86Setup.
