Is there a way to set a number of formats in Excel as the default?

For example :
Align vertical
FontSize 10
Number Accounting 2 decimals, no prefix
etc...

I realize these can all be set "after the fact", but was wondering if I could control what Excel uses as the default.

Open a new workbook. Set all the formats and alignments you want then save the workbook as a Template in your Office template Directory.

usually located in :
c:\program files\Microsoft Office\Templates

Now when you want start a new workbook, select File-New then Select the Template you have just saved.

Thanks for the advice.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, this still does not seem to change the "core" default settings, that each new cell I type into still reverts back to the standard.

The font type is also stored in the Options for Excel. Tools-Options
