Hi!
I’m working with cr10 and SQL 2000.
We have 2 sets of Data Base.
“Live” and “Training”
I created reports using “Training”, now I need to test it on “Live”
Before, in CR5 – CR8.5 it was very easy. Changing of location of one table sent prompt to change location for all tables.
Now in CR10 I follow Help recommendation:

"Highlight the database or table in the "Replace with" area that you want to use instead. Click Update. This button is available only when like items are selected (that is, if you select a table in the upper list, you must select a table in the lower list). Once the Update button is clicked, the new data source information is updated in the Current Data Source list."

I’m doing all this but tables never get updated. Only if I go table by table and update them individually it finally updated.
Maybe somebody knows why I can’t update Data Base in “one move”.

Thanks.
Alec.

It is done like this: Go to 'set datasource location' in the database menu. In the 'Current data source' part of the Set Datasource location dialog click the 'Training database'. In the 'Replace with' part select the Live' database. Now click the update button

Regards
Poul

NB. Please be aware. You are not selecting any table. You are selecting the databases.

You're selecting the data source, not neccesarily a database). It should update all items asa result.

Poul: Are you Scandinavian? My first name is Poul (always gone by Kai though) and you're the first I've run across with that spelling.

Synapsevampire & Poujor. Thanks for the help.
But you telling me how it should work...And I'm telling you that it doesn't work the way it should. After I'm doing all you sad, I go to Database -> Show Sql Query and it shows "Training”.dbo.Table_Name... . Only one way works for me if I go from table to table and update them "one by one". I found 2 same question on "Knowledge base" of Business Object website and no answers...

Thanks.
Alec.

It doesn't work the same way in CR 9 and 10 as it did in 8.5 and below. They took away the propagate changes to all datasources functionality that did all the work for you.

Wish I had a better answer for you than that.

Hi Bdreed!
Following Synapsevampire & Poujor suggestions it's looks like Updating Data Source or Database doesn't work only for some people (including myself) and works generally by "Edit" and typing the right Data Source or Select both (old & new) Data Sources and "Update".

Thanks.
Alec.

Using the Database->Set Database Location->Select the datasource name (not the tables) and select the new datasoruce name, then selecting Update updates my data source.

Not sure what you're trying, but it works fine here for changing from QA to PROD.

Alec: synapsevampire(*) and poujor(*) are correct. I guess I could have saved myself some time on a few reports.
