I am trying to set up Remote Call Forwarding on an extension. Unfortunately I am doing it from home for the evening. Generally speaking can I forward from an extension without being physically AT that extension.

I have already:

Set Reliable Disconnnect to YES
Set Allow remote forwarding for that extension

Basic I am wondering how to do the FEATURE 33#123456789# without being at that extension.

I have RDP access to WinSPM for performing admin.

I am willing to research the details. I just cant even get the general direction.

I have read the Forwarding section of the Features manual but I must be daft cause It goes in one ear and out the other. I will read it again before I check back here.

Ok, starting to make sense, hopefully my post will help someone anyway.

To set "Remote Call Forwarding" remotely, it seems I have to use "Remote Access." (all the remotes gets confusing)

To use "Remote Access" one has to pick a Line ( 801, 802, 803, 804 ...)
You have to decide on Shared or Dedicated, I am doing dedicated for this first pass to keep it simpler.

Now on to setting barrier codes........

Ok, I am talking to myself (smile), here goes.

There is a factory set "remote access code" I am not sure where this is used and if it is the same as a Barrier Code. I suspect not.

The Remote Access Code is used if you have DID numbers - renumber it to match one of your DID's and that number will answer with the remote access dial tone.

You can ignore it if you have regular loop start lines.

If you know the phone number for your last line, log into your WinSPM and change it to dedicated remote access.

Make up a barrier code

Call the line, when it answers with the dial tone, dial the barrier code, dial your #33-extension number, 9-outside telephone number-#

Then dial back in through WinSPM and take the remote access away from that line.

If you have an auto attendant, a spare single line extension port, and a spare CO port, contact me and I'll tell you how to make it a hidden, password protected function from the auto attendant.

Ok, Ive done everything except the Barrier Code ( I figured I would set that after I get it working ).

I am able to call in remotely on DISA (?) line. I Dial *33, get dialtone, dial EXTENSION NUMBER, get dialtone, dial 9-OUTSIDE NUMBER-#, get dialtone.

... WAIT it Worked.

TouchToneTommy Saved the day.

I was actually about to post your procedure from another one of your post but re-reading it here I noticed the "9" before the outside number.

I read a little on how to do the secret/hidden setup when I get over the hump I will be trying that.
