Hi all,

Is it possible to set a pre-recorded message to auto answer the night bell out of hours??

We seem to be getting ore and more calls out of hours and instead of it just ringing out (unless someone is willing to pick to pick up the phone) it would be nice to have a auto answer and message explaining that we're closed and when to call back.

I've had a search on google and here but can't find anything even remotely connected to what I'm try to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you've no one on site out of hours, you could just set the night service mapping to route to a single extension and put either voicemail or a bog standard answering machine (set to outgoing message only - not to record messages).

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I understand what your saying and that coukd work, but I'd like to keep using the DANS service if I can.

That way anyone left in the building can answer the out of hours call from any phone.

Is there a way of continuing to use the DANS service but putting a time out on it??

Say 5 rings?

if an external call comes in when the consoles are in night mode, all the night bells ring 5 times. If the call doesn't get answered, then that call gets transfered to an extension number with an answering machine on it.

Is this even possible??

Thanks again for the reply.

:)

Hello

If your nightbells are connected to an extension port, (many are) DENs pretending to be DANs. Then put the answerphone in parallel and set to answer after 5 rings or so.

If your bells are traditional dc bells then there used to be devices called level 8 diallers that picked up nightservice calls and played a message, but you won't find one now.
