I had set my router up with no time limit on my vty's. I went in this morning and changed the setting to 15 minutes. Tested it, and I still stay connected. Tried logging in and out a few times. The router will not end any telnet session(s) after the 15 minute interval.

Suggestions how to make this session-timeout work properly?

Thank you.

Try this ( clear line 226 ) to see if you can reset the line #. type show line and look for * next to the vty session. this would be the one to reset . Good Luck , I hope this will help .

Thanks for the response. I applied your suggestion, clearing line 1. It appears to still allow a telnet session 'forever.' I'm wondering if it may have to do with the exec-timout. Mine is currently set at 0 0. Do I need to change that as well?

Thanks again ~

the exec-timeout should be ( exec-timeout 15 0 ) this will give it a timeout at 15 min .
