ok, my session.save_path is for c:\php\sessions and it shows that it is in my php info file that it is so. but still it work work with sessions, why? someone said someting about acess. what acess and for what user?

The user as which your web server runs will have to have permission to write to the directory in question.

Define "won't work" as you used it in your post. Are session files being written to that directory?

no sessions are being writen. i run ISS 6 under windows 2003. guess it's iis_usr then?

I don't know -- as the system. Open the "Services" administrative tool and check the properties of the service. What does it say in the "Log-in" tab about the user the service uses?

typically it's IUSR_[MACHINENAME] but each site in IIS can be given its own user. the detail(if not default) is all in the IIS management snap-in.
