I have a customer who is using a dedicated 3MB circuit to OneComm (Earthlink)without internet access so no huge security concerns. We are using a session manager without an SBC. We are able to make calls out but we are only receiving one way audio and incoming calls aren't working.

I believe this is due to a natting issue in the router. Since the session manager only does call signalling the RTP traffic either goes to the medpro or directly to the IP Phone depending on settings in the network region.

I know the security module has to be on the same subnet as the communication manager in order to connect to it.

Does anyone have session manager working with public trunks without using a customer SBC onsite? If so how is the network designed? Thanks for any tips.

If your firewall has a SIP ALG it might work to turn that on.

That way it will listen to the SIP handshake and allow the media stream that is negotiated.
