I can not get remotely into a partner system (R5). I dial in, it says connected at 14400bps then after 20 to 30 seconds I get a message box that states "Session Initiation with Partner System failed", yet I stay connected to the system. I can not retrieve any system info, etc.

I have done the following to troubleshoot:

-Made sure I selected a R5 in the software drop down menu
-Made sure the Remote Admin Password is set
-Made sure the System Password is set
-Swapped PCMCIA card slots with a restart
-Tried dialing in locally
-Tried dialing in remotely
-I have a spare processor and plugged the card into that one as well and same issue.

Think it could be a bad card? I can sucessfully do backups to the card. I have connected to many other partners with this same laptop so the laptop/modem should not be the issue.

Any thoughts??

Thx

Hi TheCardMan,
Doesn't matter what release you select in the drop down menu. You are not creating a program.
It sounds like your modem. Can you connect to any other systems?

-Chris

Yes, I connect to other systems fine. Since I have connected to other Partner systems, R4's R6's etc., I can't say it would be my modem. I am leaning towards the possibility of a bad RAS card.

Thanks for the reply Chris.

Hey Joe,
More likely line level then. Or it could be system noise. I have have Mail VS modules cause this problem. If you have a voicemail module, pull it and try again. This means before of after hours I guess.

I had a Partner Messaging R1 in the carrier but removed it. I am trying to dial in without the voicemail in the system because I have heard that it could cause issues.

Hi Joe,
It's not the R1 in particular. Some vm units (rare) cause the system buss to become noisy. If the card is removed try to connect direct while on site. ie: No voicemail in the system.

Lower your port speed to 2400 and try to connect again. Works on some, not on others.
