I've heard that having variables passed in the URL is generally considered a bad idea from an SEO point of view. Does this include session ID's?

You don't want the Session ID's passed in the URL, if the SE indexes it, then everyone who follows the link from the SE will have the same session. (sure you could work around it, but why should you have to?)

I posted something similar to this not to long ago. Hopefully, Chris's advice offered in my thread can help you too.

Thanks Ecar, that was helpful.

It's a shame that sessions cause these problems. I've been learning about PHP sessions, which would be extremley useful to me with a web project I'm designing. I thought I'd found a way of getting around the problem of keeping track of logged in users who have cookies disabled.

I guess it's back to the drawing board.
