session has dies or not

Hi There

I'm a beginner in web development ( in fact in development)Please can you tell me if there is a way in javascript/java that shows if a session has died, (ie. the user has hard exited the application or crash on pc.) or not (user has not used application for a while.. ie gone to meeting).

Session information is held on the servlet engine. and the browser holds a reference to that session. Sessions die when a borwser is closed and the servlet engine does garbage collection or after the session-timeout constaint has been reached without any activity. this is ussually 30 minutes. Hope this helps
