Services will not start!

Hi,

I have a Windows 2000 server which was running fine until I installed MDAC 2.8.

Now, IIS will not start. I get the error "IIS Admin Service is desabled". However, it is not and I can restart that service successfully.

Also, I cannot get into any of the Event logs since this "upgrade". I now get "Unable to complete the operation on Application\Security\System. The interface is unknown". I cannot start the Eventlog service as I get error 1501.

I have tried to re-install SP4, but get "Access is Denied".

All these services were OK until i installed the MDAC. Any help will be much appreciated.....

If you really think it could be related to MDAC then you can reinstall MDAC from the c:\windows\inf\mdac.inf file. Right click the mdac.inf and choose install. See if that helps.

There doesn't appear to be an MDAC.inf file...

Show hidden files and folders if you havent already and look again. Since its win2k its actually c:\winnt\inf

Or just do a search for mdac.inf and make sure it searches hidden files. It should be there.
