Hi all,

One of our CE10 servers has just been migrated to a new domain. I've naively though that this would not cause any issues, but in fact it has meant that most of the Crystal services won't start.

Trying to log on to the CMC results in a 'Communication failed with all configured Web Component Servers...' error (which makes sense since the WCS starts then stops again a couple seconds later).

Can anyone help me resolve this? Thanks in advance.

Gavin

...just to add to the above, all Crystal services are logging on using the new domain admin credentials, but I'm guessing I need to do more than this...

You might need to use fully-qualified domain names (FQDN) on all your services and command lines.

If this is a cluster, are all the CE-10 boxes in the cluster on the same DOMAIN?

Also, CE-10 is going off support in a few months - so you should consider moving to BOE-XI soon as you can.

To fix this issue, you just need to recreate the services inside the CCM tool. The name defaults when you create new services will fix the naming clash that's currently preventing them from starting up.

So for every service that's failing, go into the CCM and click add server and run through the wizard : should take a total of 5 minutes to fix everything.

Thanks to both of you.

Ungulate, should I delete the existing servers first, or afterwards, or does this not matter?

Thanks, Gavin

Hi,
Always delete the existing ones first ( then do the CMS first so the other new servers can register themselves)

Be sure to also 'enable' them after creating and starting them..

Thanks. We've actually rolled back to the old domain in the meantime. - I found a document on the BO knowledgebase which goes through the whole process quite clearly (incl. backing up beforehand etc.) so I'm going to follow that through in a couple weeks when the timing will be better.

Search for ce_renaming_system.pdf as a File Download on the BO knowledgebase.

- Thanks for your help, Gavin

Hi Gav,

That doc is not bad at all.

What the guys above told you is correct:

1- Delete the servers in the CCM
2- Rename your server / change domain
3- Recreate all servers (starting with the APS/CMS)
4- Enable them

I forgot now but if in CE10 you still have a WCS, make sure to have a lool at the Web Connector!
