Services For UNIX on windows 2003 server

Has anybody had any experience of loading SFU 3.5 into a windows server 2003 Cluster.

We have need to install this component on a 2 server cluster to enable us to copy files from a Linux box to the cluster.

The install and set-up looks pretty straight forward but we have concerns about the impact on overall performance of the server.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Never installed SFU on a cluster, but is there any reason why you can't use SAMBA to create a share on the linux box and have your Windows connect to this share

The linux box in question is from a third party vendor and we have no control over it.

They are the ones suggesting that we install SFU on the cluster, we just need to know thew impact of doing this.

As far as I know there is nothing difficult about the installation, but for what you want and since you can't use SAMBA, I would recommend you use PSCP (which is part of the Putty suite of tools) and run a batch file that connects to the Linux box and copies the files over

I recently installed SFU 3.5 on my XP Pro machine.
After some config changes on the Linux machine, I was able to see the NFS share.

Although, one problem that I've noticed is that every once in a while, when I'm editing a file on an NFS share, when I try to save the file my system takes a dump and then reboots. It has happened twice so far, and in the System Log I get:

I just tried updating my network drivers to see if that fixes it, but I think it might be a bug in the NFS driver.

Not sure on a cluster but I've had 3.0 installed and running on a Win2000 server running SQL2000 with a Terabyte database for several years now and haven't seen any impact (we use it to read dds4 tapes made with a RS6000)
