services.exe is killing my win2k box

My older PC PIII500 192 RAM (Win2k with only task mgr running) is being pegged by the services.exe running around the upper 90's % and has my PC crawling for about 5 minutes.

Any insights?

Is this only on bootup? If so, I'd stop/disable unnecessary services, and also check msconfig to see what you've got starting up. But you don't exactly have a blazing fast PC there.
