My son's new laptop is running microsoft's Vista. He is running low on memory. I tried to clean up his laptop and seems to be stuck with is file:
program data\AOL\AOLDiag\ServicehostUSGM\win32\15.5.1.2\
This appears to be the directory and the antispyware programs seem to be running for an excessive amount of time and I eventually need to break out of the program. Is the program Spyware Bot the same as SpyBot? I find several parasites with this program mostly in Limewire directories that get cleaned and then when I reboot come back again.
I also search for the directory Program data\AOL....and cannot find it on the harddrive. I am really confused any help would be appreciated.

I think its part of the spyware protection package that comes with aol. First off, my main advice would be drop aol and find a local isp. Be cheaper. Second off, aol apps are resource hogs. However you can go to control panel and look around for aol diagnostic software and might be able to remove it without affecting aol.

The program is probably hidden. Go to folder options, then view, under there you should see "show hidden files and folders". Check it and do the search again and you will probably find it this time.

Thanks for the response, however, I don't use AOL. There was a free AOL subscription with the new laptop but we never used it. I remove it from the remove software in control panel. My son uses AIM6 instant messenger but not AOL.

In addition, if he stopped using Limewire to "acquire music" then his volume of spyware would stop.
