Is it normal for the httpd service to be restarted every time the logs are rotated?

By what means are the logs being rotated?
And no: you shouldn't have to.

They automatically rotate once per week via cron. I didn't mean that I was restarting httpd, its restarting automatically when the logs rotate. This is a generic install of Redhat 6.1.

Thats very strange to me: but it seems par for the course for
log rotation using sigusr1:this url has info.
I never have used this method: I have always
used an awk-tail script to truncate the log files;
archive the old files, and never send a signal to the
server process itself. This works fine for me.
I'll post the script if you like.

Good Luck
