Service Profile Damaged?

I have looked through the archives and found some references to this problem, but here is mine.

Whenever I download attachments from hotmail and I try to open them I get "Microsoft Connection Manager" The Service Profile is Damaged. Re-install the Service Profile.

Could this be that IE is screwed up. I have only found it to be a problem with hotmail attachments.

This seems like a unique spin on the problem, and of course the Microsoft link to this is dead and has been for quite some time.

As a first step, You could go to add/remove programs, click on IE6 and choose the repair option.
