I have P630 configured to enable access to the service processor via serial port S1 - this works as designed enabling me to access the SP menu's.

Once AIX boots the S1 port has been configured with login enabled (i.e. spawn a tty) thereby allowing access to the host via the S1 port. The herald message and login prompt are displayed however there appears to be a keyboard mapping error which prevents the userid and password being accepted by the system. Hitting the 'enter' key on entering the userid "root" seems to produce a newline but no carriage return.

I've been looking at the characteristics of the S1 port.

Any ideas ?

hi,

if you do smitty tty
and look at characteristics of a port , what emulation
have you got running and does this match the emulation you are using to connect to the host?

Also check the other characteristics of the port against the s/w or terminal you are using in order to connect to the host.
