2 Questions:

1. What Service Pack is installed by a default Netware 4.11 install? I believe it is 5B, but want to double check.

2. If someone is referring to Netware 4.20, is this essentially Netware 4.11 with the latest service pack (which I believe is SP9)?

Thanks.

-Ted

On an out of the box installation of NetWare 4.11, so Service Pack is installed. The latest can be downloaded from
NetWare 4.2 is a seperate product from NetWare 4.11. If you have applied SP9 to a NetWare 4.11 server, it is just NetWare 4.11 SP9 -----------------------------------------------------

Question 3: (forgot this one, I'll probly have more before I'm done)

3. I've never installed a Service Pack on Novell. Is it true you can only extract this file to the Sys volume, and install from there? The reason I ask is simply because when our server was installed, there wasn't alot of space allocated to the Sys volume (which is why my predecessor apparently didn't install any updates). If so, then can I install from another volume?

Thanks again.

-Ted

You can install the extracted Service Pack from whatever volume you like as long as you specify the install path. -----------------------------------------------------

Thanks for the responses TheLad. You're the man =)

Instead of posting a new topic, I'll just ask here: Does anyone have Novell Client 3.30 for Win95/98 they can possibly send me? I'm having some issues with some accounting software, and one workaround the manufacturer suggests is down-grading client from the 3.32 SP1 I'm running to that. I can't find it on any sites, and novell definitely doesn't have it to download. I know it's a large file to email, but if you know of a site that has it or anything, I'd appreciate it. If you have it and feel like emailing it to me, you can reach me at tteknos@ihccorp.com.

Thanks.

I have client 3.30 dated 9/23/00 at 13megs.
Can your mail box handle it?

Small note: As TheLad says, 4.2 and 4.11 are seperate products & have different licenses that do not work across the versions, however .. 4.2 is really just 4.11 with SP8 installed. If you run the install of 4.2 it will install the same files as 4.11 and once the main file copy is compete, it copies the files for sp8 (states it in the status box). 4.2 was released because it is a pain in the rump to install 4.11 onto new hardware that use drivers that make calls to public veriables that require updates in the 4.x patches. It can be done, it's just difficult for admins that just use NetWare and have little experience with installing the NOS. Brent Schmidt CNE,Network + [atom]

That's EXACTLY the problem I had installing NW4 on a backup server. Anyways, yes, my email can handle 13 MB. Thanks so much. Address again is: tteknos@ihccorp.com

You guys are awesome. Basically any problem I've had, tek-tips to the rescue =)
