I've read up on Service Pack 2 and am going to implement per CitrixEngineer's suggestion.

I have no interest in Feature Release 1 so I have a couple of questions:

1) Do I need to purchase a license for Service Pack 2 as I would if I installed Feature Release 1?

2) Do I need to install Feature Release 1 to install Service Pack 2?

Thanks for your help!

Service Pack 2 for MetaFrame is basically the same thing as Feature Release 1. No additional licensing is needed. B-)

Thanks, but I really need clarification on whether or not I can install SP2 onto Metaframe 1.8 without having to buy any additional licenses. My gut tells me I ought to be able to do this, but I may be wrong.

Voyager1, are you saying that as long as I have the FR1 license, I will have no problem installing SP2? Or are you saying that even though I do not have a license for FR1, I can install SP2 without the purchase of an additional license.

Thanks

That is exactly right - if you have not bought the FR1 license, you will not get the features. You will still benefit from the upgrades of SP2 if you install it.

I always advise having a test server available to test upgrades and hotfixes - and only to install them if you need the enhancements.

That said, I have not seen any issues in a standard MS Office environment with this service pack. Other applications may not fare so well, hence my suggestion of running it on a test server first.

I hope this helps.
