Is this exchange service pack 1 on windows 2003? When i put mine on everyones emails stopped until the install had finished and then it was fine, can you reboot?

Also keep in mind that if you have SP1 for Exchange, you HAVE to run SP1 for Server 2003. It will not be happy if you do not.

service pack 1 for widows server 2003 on which exchange is installed. now the computer stays long setting personal settings and network connections. after that you can't get any AD information network connection etc....

ok, I had a similar problem. There is a problem with some sp1 installs. It breaks the ipsec, which is critical to establish network communications during bootup.

Check this out and let me know how it works:

1. Look in the registry here: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\"

Look for an IPSec registry key. If it is missing, go to step 2.

2. Open command prompt type> regsvr32 polstore.dll

This will restore the IPSec key and the service will start.

Reboot your machine and see if it helps. I had a similar instance and this fixed it for me.

The IPSec key is there.

Tha failing server is everything for the network
There are other DCs on my network on which exchange is installed . Is there any chance of restoring the Mailboxes or creating them from these servers?

I am losing all domain information is that ?

how can I manually change SFMO roles?

I do not think it would hurt to re-register that dll anyway, but thats up to you.

I am not quite sure that I understand your setup or problem here.

So is your only DC and Exchange server on the same box? And what is the problem? Does the machine boot up? Can you login?

I am not an expert in Exchange, but if you can get the server up and log into it, you can move the mailboxes to a new Exchange server. This would obviously require another Exchange server to be built. If your box is completely not functioning, then you've got more problems.

Transferring FSMO roles is easy. You can do it in ADUC or REPLMON. I think you will get more choices in REPLMON, but to get to it in ADUC, right-click your domain and choose operations master. You may want to check out this site as well:

thanks for all

ofcourse i did reregister the dll, but no change.

the mailboxes are on this server, you can't move them with no network connection, all exchange services not started.you can't configure any tcp/ip on the failing server, as no network connections are seen.

Do you have a way to backup these mailboxes? That may be your end solution.

Have you tried uninstalling SP1? I did have 1 server that I upgraded to SP1 have a problem like this. It lost all network connectivity. Do you have any other DC's?

One thing you may want to try is to reinstall TCP/IP on the server in case it has corrupted. You can do this with a netsh command.

Netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

If that gives any errors or does not work, further reading can be done here:

thanks for the materials

I am running out of time and I am formatting and reinstalling. I lose 1 and halfday user mail that is acceptable. I have pst files a day before.

Thanks
