Service engine not responding

Backup Exec 11d. Windows 2003 Server. Nothing changed. Suddenly jobs are failing with following error:

The Backup Exec job engine system service is not responding.

Generally, most or all jobs that night fail with the same error; there are no error codes and no good information to find resolution. The next morning I have to restart services. The next evening most of the jobs fail with the same error. This has been happening for approximately two weeks now and I have not been able to find any information to "fix" the situation.
Any help/insight is greatly appreciated.

Have you changed the password for your logon account just before this started happening??

The password for the logon account has not been changed.
