Morning all,
Was wondering if anyone was aware of a application/utility that can run on a Microsoft server to change dns records depending on if a service is available.
I am aware of several hardware load balancer's that can do this but I was looking for a software product.
Basically we have two external WAN links at separate sites delivered via different service providers and we have multiple ip's for services. In the event of a data center outage it would be nice for the dns records relating to the downed site being removed so that users don't fall into a dns black hole.
The application would need to be able to do simple service checks such as polling a URL or pinging/snmp against ip addresses.
I suspect I may end up writing a service just to do these simple functions but if there's a product on the market at the right price then why reinvent the wheel.
Thanks in advance.
