Hi ,
i am in an urgent requirement for a solution..Service observe from trunks..
I have created VDN that points to a vector which has a simple step of 'route to number 608'
608 is the service observation code.

Locally if I dial the VDN (this is a number from DDI/DID range I have)..I get a dial tone and on punching the agent id I am at it (SO).

But whenever I am dialling the number from outside,i get a dial tone and attempt to punch the agent id fails..I I get is continous dial tone and th digits are not recogniozed..

I have checed the COR-COR restrictions and there arent any
I have given 'can e service observed/observer' = y
for bith COR of the truck grp ad the agent id..

Can anybody help..

Hi langl3y ,
The trace output when i called from a public phone is as below:

LIST TRACE

time vec st data

14:36:17 0 0 ENTERING TRACE cid 153
14:36:17 555 1 vdn e21789 bsr appl 0 strategy 1st-found override n
14:36:17 555 1 route-to
14:36:17 555 2 LEAVING VECTOR PROCESSING cid 153
14:36:17 555 2 TRACE COMPLETE cid 153

Hope this is usefull....After I get the dial tone , no digits are accepted..I mean there is a continous overlapping dial tone..

TRACE when dialled VDN locally is as below: with this I am able to SO perfectly..

time vec st data

14:39:26 0 0 ENTERING TRACE cid 372
14:39:26 555 1 vdn e21789 bsr appl 0 strategy 1st-found override n
14:39:26 555 1 route-to
14:39:26 555 2 LEAVING VECTOR PROCESSING cid 372
14:39:26 555 2 TRACE COMPLETE cid 372

I would try putting a step ahead of the route to 608 step, just wait 2 seconds hearing silence or music. there might be a problem with the trunk not seen as seized at the far end.

I added a step 1 ie wait time 2 sec hearing silence..
This time a call from out network ir Public call is giving ring backs and after some time gets routed to teh DID intercept number!!!

Strange. Could you do another list trace on the VDN and post it?

Here is the tarce on the VDN and the result is continous rig back..
I am also giving the vector..

I tried it on our Avaya CM S8700 and had the same results as you. I was even able to call the VDN from another Avaya PBX trunked to the one with the VDN and it worked okay, but when I come in from the Bell PRI it drops back to dial tone???

another suggestion though- I was however able to call the "remote-access" enter the barrier code with a COR that allows SO, then our SO code 654 and do a service observe from there.

Here's how i set this up on mine:

01 wait-time 3 secs hearing ringback
02 collect 3 digits after announcement none
03 goto step 7 if digits = 333
04 wait-time 1 secs hearing music
05 goto vector 255 if unconditionally
06 stop
07 route-to number 127 with cov n if unconditionally

vec255 is just our normal 800 numbers announcements entering into our callcenter, so unless you enter the "code" 333 within 3 seconds, the caller will just automatically get routed to the callcenter. Its a pretty sneaky way to have a backdoor. Number 127 is our SO FAC.

Does the trunk you are calling in on have access to service observe in the COR assigned to the trunk and VDN?

To add on to this thread. There is an issue when using VDN/VEC/VRT via trunks to remote monitor agents that are using an ASAI link for third party call control. As soon as an agent, who is being remote service observed, places their call on hold, third party call control stops because the third party application thinks the real call has ended.

Avaya ASAI documentation states that service observe via station is supported with ASAI, but it is not clear if it will work when the observer is not a station.

Any thoughts???
