I took a different Comptia exam -the N+ exam, and although I don't personally think it's any kind of knowledge indicator, it may hold value in the sense that it is "another cert" when an HR manager or whomever is looking over your resume. For example, I was surprised a few months ago, when I was interviewing for a new position, to find how many hiring managers would read through my certs aloud and comment that it was good that I had numerous certs, not once citing anything negative about the N+. If you have the time and want to take it, I would say go for it. It's just one extra plus on your resume that may keep you on top of the pile compared to the guy/gal that doesn't have it when your application is being screened.
none of the CompTIA certs are bs... nor are any of the others... they all say you can pass a test...
the value employers place on that varies...
but the real question is always how to go from where I'm at to where I want to be... and whether or not a given cert will be more useful than a couple of extra pizzas and a six-pack of diet Dr. Pepper....
each of us has to decide that on our own...
Setnaffa is an MCP-W2K (working on MCSE-W2K) with a few other certs, too...
