This might not be the right place to ask this but I'm getting desperate. I have a system that I use at home as a server, and it has a singe local workstation that runs off it occassionally. I have recently discovered (though it may have always been this way)that my server will not respond to any remote requests (ie. telnet, http, ping) unless the workstation is also on. Why does my server not work properly unless a local computer is on as well?
BTW, the system is running RedHat 6.2 on an i586.
    Just to clarify my situation:
The server has two ethernet cards, one which connects it to my cable modem, and the other which connects it to the local workstation. The workstation is ipmasq-ed and I believe that it is behind a firewall. This could just be a simple problem with my httpd conf, as I am relatively new to Unix-stlye computing and am apt to make even the most obvious errors.
Any and all suggestions are welcome.
liquidgrey
webmaster@liquidgrey.com
<a href= Liquidgrey and the greycloak
lead blood being spilled by weapons of flesh...
we have to retaliate.
