I have been searching the net (and here) and have not been able to find anything suitable to monitor uptime/downtime. The requirements I have been given are:

Uptime/availability will be reported as a percentage
Downtime will be reported in minutes/hours.
Report on a weekly basis (or if not doable, monthly).

What do you all use or recommend? The systems to be monitored are all unix (linux, hpux, aix).

If cost isn't really a concern, Quest Foglight can give you full end-to-end monitoring, with reports of uptime and availability, as well as showing impact to your customers due to single server issues. It's very comprehensive, but is far from free.

Foglight looks interesting, but I dont think I will be able to get my mgt to buy off on it... cheap/free is the way I need to go.

I just installed nagios today - now to get it configured and see if it will give the details requested.
