I've noticed over the last week, our server has lose about 30 minutes on the clock, anyone no why, could it be a server issue or a Novell issue?

Regards

Richard

What version of NetWare are you running (including Service Packs). How have you got your time synchronisation configured? -----------------------------------------------------
"It's true, its damn true!"

Novell 5.1 SP2, time syn! not sure!!!! It is active, how do I check the configuration?

Regards

Richard

Are you running multiple servers or just one?

Go to the server console and type:

MODULES TIMESYNC

and tell us what version it says it is running. -----------------------------------------------------

Version 5.15 23 December 1999

Version 5.15. 23 December 1999

The timesync NLM in SP2 was buggy, get up to SP5, may fix the problem.

To make sure time is acurate, setup NTP on your server.

There is also a list of public NTP server on the web.

Rcorn,

I had the same problem after upgrading from v4.11 to v5.1. After many calls to Novell and various consulting firms an odd resoulution emerged. Replacing the IDEATA.HAM drivers resolved the problem.

I can't find the exact TID I read at the time but here is one I found now.

TID10057717 (last modified 09OCT2002)

1.6 Time Drift Issue with IDEATA Storage Drivers

If your server is experience time drifting and your server
uses IDE storage devices, you can install the newer IDEATA.HAM
drivers available in the \TOOLS directory.

Copy the IDEATA.HAM file to the SYS:SYSTEM directory. When
you load the driver, use the following command:

LOAD IDEATA.HAM /NODMA

If you do not use the \NODMA switch, the following may happen:

- If you are using NSS volumes, the volumes may not appear.

- The IDEATA.HAM parameter window may appear. Press Esc to
continue.

I hope this helps.
