Does a server-side stored procedure called from a trigger in a client (form) perform poorer than a server-side stored procedure called from a trigger in the database ?
my procedure will perform intense calculations...

It depends not only on intensity of calculations, but also on intensity of data interchange. If your client side trigger uses some client side variables intensively, this may be an issue. Thus I'd suggest you to create stored procedure: the least you may get - decreasing sql*net traffic.
