Hi,

I have tried looking but to no avail for server side file access - I need some examples to get me started on writing a loggin script when users log in!

TIA

Are you thinking to do client side authentication? Something like: After a user type in their username/password and hit login button, a javascrit then load a password file from server, look up the user password to validate if the password is correct then forward to another page.

Client side authentication is not secure at all, anyone can view your source code and do reverse engineering even get all user password.

Authentication should be done at server side.

Anyway, if you way to access a file in server, put that file in the web directory, you can access the file through a URL. you can then use a hidden iframe to load that file, you can then obtain file content from the iframe. This will work the file you trying to acess is a text file.
