server setup on win 2000 pro 1

I am trying to setup a game server for quake 3.I think my problem is a firewall issue.I can play on my local network but others cant access mine via the internet.My other pc finds the server on the lan,but if my friends type in my ip it does not connect for them.Any help would be greatley appreciated.

What Firewall are you running on your server?
Have you tried to disable it.
Have your friends tried to connect to your Interner-IP or your local IP as you second PC did?

It is setup with a linksys router.I was finally able to get it by using the dns server option and adding an address to access out side the router.Thank you for your help.
