I have a switched PDU which can be accessed through a web interface on an specified ip address.

Recently I have been receiving messages that a machine on ip x.x.x.x is trying to access the snmp interface.

A server with 2003 installed and snmp service running, does it send out snmp requests at certain intervals?

The server is set up to receive ip through dhcp.

Hi,

The server won't be sending out SNMP requests unless you have installed a package on there that will initiate them (e.g. a network management package).

The SNMP service is just to allow management packages to interrogate & (possibly) configure the server agent.
