The readme.txt for EPO 3 sp2 says if you are managing more than 250 clients you should put EPO on a dedicated server. It also says that if you are managing 5000+ clients the SQL database should be on a separate server from the ePolicy Orchestrator server.

Does anyone have any experience that either reinforces or contradicts these requirements?

We manage 6000 desktops using SMS and are in planning stages for EPO. Would having EPO and SMS share a database server be a bad idea? What if we have a server dedicated to running the EPO app, but uses the SMS server for it's database?

Obviously, we're trying to save money on SQL licenses, but we don't want performance to suffer too much.
Thanks.

We use ePo 3.0.1 Server with SQL Server. We managing more than 7500 clients.

Our ePo server is a dedicated server, but it is running on the same server than SQL Server.

The server is a bi-P3 Xeon 1.1 Ghz with 2.7 Gb RAM and it's works really fine :).
