Hi!

Any suggestions/ideas on how to replicate server A to server B using my archive logs. I'm using 8.05 in WIN2K.

Thanks,

Rommel

Hi,

Have a look at Oracle Data Guard. Oracle Doc Part no: a96653. It explains a few ways in which you can replicate changes to another database on another server or the same server, one of which is using the archive logs. In an Oracle Data Guard setup you have a primary database and one ro many standby database which is kept up to date by either using archive log files or redo log files.

Cheers,
J.

Will oracle data guard be set up using a 8.05 database?
Any clarification please...

thanks,

Rommel

Hi,

Sorry my fault...I did not see your Oracle version.
I am not sure whether Data Guard has been introduced in 8.0.5 or not. To have a quick look do a:

select * from v$option
where upper(parameter) like '%GUARD%'

If Data Guard does not exist you might want to have a look at Oracle Replication.

Cheers,
J.
