We have recently applied Support Pack 3 to our novell server. Ever since then at night it reboots itself. We don't know why. Does anybody have any insight as to why this is happening?

Thanks

Check your SYS:SYSTEM\ABEND.LOG. The Server is probably receiving a critical error that is causing the Server to restart.

Try leaving a Workstation logged in overnite. When the Server goes into the critical error state, it sends out a broadcast message to all Client connections saying that the Server will be restarting in 2 minutes.

Also, do you run your Tape Backup, or some kind of Backup Agent, on this Server? If so, this may be the cause of your problem. Look at you Tape logs and see if your backup is completing successfully.

How about GroupWise, or some other form or application?

Good Luck.

I haven't checked the logs but we do run a tape back up with arcserve that didn't have this problem till after sp3 was installed.

We do not have groupwise installed. We just use it strictly as a file server.

We have at least 2 computers that are logged in to the NetWare server only cause they are XP Pro boxes.

Any other ideas?

I would look at the ArcServe Logs on this Server. Are the Backups completing successfully? If not, I bet you will see when the backup is stopping, and that will relate to the same time the server is rebooting.

What version of Arcserve are you running? You must be running AT LEAST ArcServe v6.6 SP4 to be compatible with NetWare v5.1.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

I will check the log. Thanks for the suggestion. We are currently using ArcServe 2000 sp3 I believe it is at.
