Okay, what issues am I likely to face here. The Server was shutoff and physically moved out of the office. The admin made changes to remap the users to another file server but did not remove the existing objects from the tree. None of them... the replica ring still shows it and I guess they didn't notice the communication error on the console every 15 minutes. I know I will have to manual remove any reference to the server from the tree as with any crashed server my question is what effects will this have on the tree, oh did I mention this was done MONTHS ago? Anyhow, any heads up would be appreciated. Thanks Breeze

HEY, WATCH THIS!

That was pretty dumb of whoever just turned off the server, but it's good you are fixing things finally!! You won't have any lasting damage, you should just follow this document to remove all references and repair edirectory. Pay attention to the part about making sure that any replicas were not exclusive to that server and how to deal with it if there were any.

P.S. It might take half a day or more for all NDS errors to flush themselves clean since the situation has been going on for some time. I'd do the following after following the procedure and watch the DSTRACE screen to see when all the errors have gone away.

set dstrace=on
set dstrace=+s
set dstrace=*h
