I am in the process of changing several mail boxes for my users. For example, where an email address might me john@company.com, I neeed to change it to john.smith:company.com. Both addresses will remain in place for a few months. Changing the email adddress has been no problem, but I am trying to set up rules so that people sending emails to the old address of john@comapny.com would get a message back requesting them to change their address book to the new email address. I have set the rule up in the following way:

Apply this rule after the message arrives
with john@company.com in the recipient's address
have server reply using changed email address

where the reply is an email showing the new address and a request to change.

What I then get is a box telling me that I cannot combine server only and client only rules.

Can anyone let me know how to get round this problem, please?

I've found that the above rule doesn't work as I've set up both email address in the email address tab on the user account properties. Can anyone suggest any way of getting an email response generated to the old email address, but not the new one. I don't know if it is possible to set up two separate email accounts for the same user?

Further to the original question, is there any way of making a rule client only, as I don't need this rule to run if the user isn't using the system. Thanks.

I've tried changing the rule to be applied only after the message has been read, and it still counts as a server only client only rule. My thinking being that if the user is reading the message then they must be using the account. Can anyone explain what I am doing wrong, and how to solve the problem? Any help would be much appreciated.
