When trying to access a remote server in a WAN environment by using its server name, it is sometimes necessary to update the LMHOST file and provide the IP Address/server name. This is usually necessary if the client is of different segment as the server:
e.g.:
120.19.45.1 APSERVER001
Is there a different means to do this by providing the DNS instead of IP address? I tried changing the IP address with the DNS but it doesn't seem to work.
e.g.
testserver.dev.com APSERVER001
Appreciate any advise... Thanks.
