I am running SQL Server 2000 and I am having a problem with it.
The entire server locks up randomly when loading data into tables. And when the server locks up, it totally stops responding and I physically have to reboot the server. I have monitored the server at different times when it locks up and I can not figure out anything common that happens.
I am not sure what Service Patch level I am running at, but I'm sure that it's not the most recent (I haven't applied any patches for over a year). I am thinking that a good start would be to apply the most recent service patch and see if that fixes something. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on how to apply the patches? Has anyone encountered any problems after applying the service patches?
Thanks!!
