Server locks up on restore using Arcserve ver 9.

I have two compaq servers running NetWare 6 SP2 with SDLT tape drives. I have had both servers lockup during restores. It does not happen every time. I have reinstalled arcserve 9, upgraded the sdlt rom's.... At one point when it was having a problem, I could restore any file upto a certain point on the tape and nothing after that. When it happens, the server needs to be powered off. Nothing on the keyboard works.
Any thoughts would be helpfull.
