I have a server running WIndows 2000 SP2 that freezes up every night around 11pm or 12 am. It was doing this before I applied SP2 as well. There are no errors reported in the log before it locks up. Everything appears to be functioning normally up until it freezes. I have tried to use Performance Monitor but am at a loss as to where to begin watching things. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

what services do you have on that particular server? is there any scheduled task or process you are running on evenings?

The server only houses user directories for the staff at that site. But, the Backup Exec remote agent is on it and that server is backed up aroud midnight each night. I didn't back it up last night and the server didn't freeze up. I think I may have found the culprit but am still unsure what to do about it. Thanks!

work on this discovery for some time and see what happens.

keep posted.
