Hi All

I've cross-posted this as it is a bit of a grey one. As part of our acceptance testing for a large new windows system I want to prove MOM 2005's ability to alert on reaching CPU/Memory and I/O thresholds. What I'm after is a free tool or script that will do that. Loadrunner is overkill for our needs. Either over the network or just on the local box. Just want to generate say 50% cpu and have MOM alert me on that. I'm not trying to test the server hardware. I guess a server burn-in tester would also do - the servers are ibm blade centers.

Oh and the other thing is good old leakyapp from the win2k reskit.
It says on the page that its only made for win2k. Anybody used this with win2003 r2 without hosing the box?

There are load simulators for MS apps like SQLIOSIM, ExchangeSIM (depending if you are running any of these apps on the server).
A very simple test I have used to quickly generate a CPU spike > 50% is to run a directory search at the root of a drive and it's subdirectories
ex) c:\> dir /s
Start this command in at least 3 command windows and you should be able to get a 50% CPU utilization in no time.

Thanks guys

For the CPU one in the end I just grabbed a windows with the mouse and moved it back and fourth a lot. That worked.
