IF NO NOVELL SERVER IS DESIGNATED THE PREFERRED SERVER WHICH SERVER WILL IT CONNECT TO ON THE NETWORK!!!

Workstation connection is always established to the first server that responds to Get Nearest Server (GNS).
Logic used by the client for preferred server:
1) Uses the server that the user is logging into (i.e. whatever is on the GUI Login).
2) Uses the Default Server field of the user if they are logging into the tree as specified in NDS.
3) Uses the preferred server in the control panel if neither are specified.
4) Uses the first server that the attachment is made to if none of the others exist
You must use at least client version 3.1 (W9.x) or 4.6 (NT) for preferred server to work. At present the client used should be 3.3 w/sp3(W9.x) or 4.8 w/sp3(NT/2000).

Good luck,

Mark ;-)
