I am running a win2k server. Lately, the server has been gaining approxametly 7 mins overnight. Every morning I have to reset the clock to the right time. I've restarted the server and on a restart, it will capture the correct time, but then the next day, it'll be ahead by 7 mins or so. I've checked CMOS time and it always has the right time so it isn't an issue with the battery. The only thing that I've done lately is install VolumeManager and APC's PowerChute. I've used VolumeManger only to increase my C partition from 4 Gigs to 30 Gigs. PowerChute is only used to gain access and monitor the UPS's attached to other servers. The Win2K Server is the PDC in my domain and there is no other win2k server on the domain. Has anyone experienced this issue.

I realized that it was the APC PowerChute Business Server Service that was making the time advanced. I'm still looking into y it makes it advance. If any one can think of why, please post it here.

Thank YOu

Usually, when a computer is gaining or loosing time it is because the BIOS battery is beginning to fail. It even does it when the computer is on all the time. Also computers were never designed to be accurate clocks, hense the need for an external time source, such as an atomic clock, to sync against. You may want to look at software which does that to help with the problem.
