Server functions not restored testing IDR

We set up a 2K test server with DHCP and DNS. Made image and DAT tape back-up immediatly after testing these functions. Disk originally partitioned 2GB NTFS system /2GB FAT data (empty). Restored to 4GB NTFS. After restore, not configured as DHCP host, no DNS parameters. Subsequently ran IDR again on same drive partitioned as original and system, DHCP and DNS restored (had to configure NIC though). Anyone have an idea if partitioning played a part in this? I would assume not as you may want to restore to a drive partioning that may be different.
